SUSTAINABLE
Art can go far beyond its visible form. It is a reflection of who we are and the world we want. For the artist, each work is also a gesture of care and respect for the planet. Inspired by her commitment to sustainability, Natali transforms materials that have lost their initial purpose into sophisticated and unique pieces of art.
Truck tarpaulins, worn down by time and the road, find a new life in his hands, becoming the basis for abstract works that reveal textures, stories and the essence of a Brazil that works and moves.
Various materials, such as unused tapestries, reappear in the form of art, reflecting the beauty of reuse and the ability to give new meaning to what was once essential.
The work of artist Natalí de Paula invites us to take a closer look at what we consume and discard, and to understand that creativity and originality can reinvent what was previously undervalued. In each piece, the artist builds a link between the sophisticated and the sustainable, bringing the certainty that it is possible to make art with purpose and awareness.
Natalí invites you to explore these beautiful works made with so much love and care, providing a new, special and unique perspective on an inspiring work full of stories.
These works are already being sent around the world, taking Brazilian concepts that fill national art with pride to other countries.
Truck Tarpaulin
Truck tarpaulins, originally used to protect cargo during transportation, are much more than just a covering. With a history that dates back more than a century, this material originated from cotton tarpaulin, created to safeguard cargo transported by locomotives and trucks. During the 1960s and 1970s, as Brazil became more dependent on road transport, truck tarpaulins began to gain ground, becoming an essential element in agribusiness logistics, especially with the growth of soybeans.
However, with the advancement of technological materials and the evolution of trucks, these tarps often lose their original usefulness and run the risk of being discarded. This is where the innovative proposal of artist Natali de Paula comes in. Inspired by the idea of reusing materials that have a past and a function, Natali transforms these rustic tarps into powerful canvases for her contemporary abstract works. The artist was inspired by another artist, Aécio Sarti, for whom she has a great affection, who uses boat sails and also tarps to create figurative works as the basis for his works, unlike Natalí's work, who loves the concept.
timeless abstract.
The use of truck tarps in Natali’s creations represents an explosion of color and artistic expression, reflecting not only the beauty of the material, but also its durability, which can exceed 150 years. By giving new life to these materials, Natali not only revives the history of cotton tarpaulin, but also emphasizes the importance of sustainability in art. Each piece created is an affirmation of the transformative potential of creativity, showing that what was previously considered obsolete can become a vehicle for innovation and artistic expression.
Thus, Natali de Paula's works transcend the simple concept of art; they tell stories, revalue the past and embrace a future where sustainability and originality go hand in hand.
Tapestry by Kamy
Artist Natali de Paula, dedicated to exploring the intersection between art and sustainability, recently collaborated with renowned brand By Kamy, known for its sophistication and innovation in tapestry design, resulting in a series of works that reverberate elegance and environmental awareness.
In 2022, the artist was invited to reimagine tapestries that had lost their original purpose. With a keen eye for the stories contained in each fiber, she transformed these rugs, which once adorned major events, into artistic pieces that found new purpose on the walls. Through painting, she brought these works to life, creating a dialogue between the tradition of tapestry and the contemporary art.
This work is not just an aesthetic expression, but a testament to the potential of reusing and enhancing the value of atypical materials. Each piece reflects not only the sophistication of By Kamy products, but also the commitment to sustainability, contributing to a more responsible and conscious future.
It is essential that large companies adopt an environmentally conscious perspective, rethinking the destination of their materials and creating new narratives for what has already been used. By transforming products that have lost their original function, these companies not only reduce waste, but also inspire a culture of innovation and respect for the environment. This renewed perspective can give new meaning to materials, promoting a shared responsibility that benefits both art and the planet.
Natalí believes that art has the power to transform perceptions and create meaningful connections. With this series, she invites viewers to reflect on the beauty that can emerge from reinvention and the importance of balancing creativity and respect for the environment.
And this was just the beginning of her work with this artistic focus on sustainability, there is much more to come, continue following the artist's work and be amazed.
